My personal favourite from series 2. Incredibly sharp and detailed with the highest resolution of the lot. Very special. A limited edition A2 print of this one may come out for Christmas if I can find a print shop I trust enough with it.

The sound poured through the overflowing city. Usually busy in its own right, today London was something different. Huge, ten foot tall, green walls towered over you at every twist and turn; the ersatz labyrinth seemingly erected overnight. Queen Elizabeth II was dead, and any moment her casket would pass by the Houses of Parliament. People clambered through the crowd desperate to catch a glimpse of history, but the big, green walls blocked every attempt.
Taking a step back, I noticed that Elizabeth Tower (colloquially called Big Ben) seemed to deeply contrast the mood of the crowd. This was my first time seeing the mighty tower since it had finished its 5 year restoration, and it looked stunning. Shining bright and cheerful, it shot through the clouds and caught many reflections from down below. I started backing up further and further down the road and through the crowds until I found my composition.
I wanted the architectural background to look like it was tearing through the natural foreground almost like we could see a layer deeper than we were meant to so taking the photo from the far end of my zoom lens would help compress the scene to my liking. I opened the aperture to f/4.0 to ensure the clockface, highly detailed parapets, and half-mast union jack remained tack-sharp while the trees that surrounded me framed the clock tower without taking away the focus. I took my shot, packed up my tripod, and wandered through the maze to get back home.
